The airport experience people want and need
Excitement, stress, and an undoubtedly-rapid environment, airports are at the epicenter of emotions and the bridge to experiences. But it is the convenience that airports provide that keeps people coming back – the convenience to travel anywhere in the world within a small time-frame.
So, we look at that level of convenience and thrive in following suit by fulfilling our mission to provide travelers a safe and reliable environment to help them continue their journeys with minimal disruptions.
Stern is in several airports across the United States and in countless airports around the world to assist in the experience of ease and comfort for individuals and families during their travels.
Through infrared technology, our touchless faucets and soap dispensers give travelers the luxury to freshen up in airport restrooms with minimal contact to avoid unsanitary environments and the spread of germs. Our products help keep facilities clean even during the busiest of times.
Design
As the design of an airport encompasses many considerations including functionality and esthetics, designing the restrooms should include that same level of attention to details. Social media has created the opportunity for instant awareness of just about any topic you or I can think of. And that includes experiences in public restrooms. A platform for people to showcase their experiences, give opinions on both meaningful and insignificant topics, and ultimately, influence viewers on various levels of decision-making means that a public facility (that is looking to grow and increase traffic) should prepare for in-person and digital unsolicited exposure. So, for airports, that includes restrooms and its cohesiveness to the rest of the infrastructure through design quality and image.
With Stern’s sleek, contemporary designs, restrooms are sure to look more luxurious to keep alignment with the overall feel of new modern building designs. Stern offers eye-catching finishes, including chrome, stainless steel, matte black, copper, and more to complete the simplistic designs of all our products. To unify the features on the sink, each one of Stern’s faucets can be accompanied by a matching touchless soap dispenser.
Sustainability
As an essential part of the design process, ensuring a sustainable environment within an airport is of high importance. High-traffic environments with individuals crossing paths from all points of the earth requires a facility capable of maintaining ongoing safety protocols and implementing updates to abide with constant changes in laws and regulations. As hygiene and water resources fall under those categories, Stern’s mission to provide high-quality products in alignment with sustainability requirements gives airports greater peace of mind and confidence that their facilities are most beneficial for the travelers that pass through.
Stern products are certified by IAPMO to be in compliance with UPC and NSF; they contribute towards LEED credits for both water efficiency and recycled content, which has given all our airport partners reassurance that their facilities are up to standards and even surpass the standards in the most eco-friendly way.
Experience
Stern provides great flexibility and ease-of-use for what could be the rushed travelers scurrying through the airport terminals. Some of our more innovative product collections offer infrared sensors positioned within the spout to provide a more efficient experience and avoid users having to wave their hands chaotically to begin the flow of water. As they place their hands directly under the faucet, the sensor is located in a prime position to receive the motion for activation.
The long spouts on our Tubular Trio series and the discrete behind-the mirror design of our SWAR series both position the faucet, soap dispenser, and hand dryer to flow directly over the sink, keeping countertops and floors clean, dry, and safe. The long spout asset pieces are available in deck- and wall-mounted installation models; however, wall-mounted has proven to be very popular and accommodating of an exceptional experience in these high-traffic airports. *Wall-mounted installations can be successful with or without a service chase.
What more, our faucets, soap dispensers, and hand dryers can all be managed through one universal remote that provides the maintenance team with a quick turnaround time on almost all fixes to avoid out-of-order units. Controls available through the remote includes complete customizations over the sensors’ functionalities.
A best practice includes the installation of the multi-feed soap reservoir kit with soap level indicator in support of up to six automatic soap dispensers. These fast-pace, high-traffic environments call for system processes that maintain the flow of traffic.
The technical features and design esthetics of Stern products provide airport facilities with a great advantage to help avoid vandalism, utilize water-saving resources, and contribute to the overall energy and experience for travelers.
